About Jeffrey A. Newman

Jeffrey Newman, J.D., M.B.A. is a trial attorney who is known for taking on difficult legal cases and winning some of the largest verdicts and settlements. He was co-lead counsel for over 400 of the victims of clergy abuse by priests in the Boston Archdiocese cases, resulting in an $85 million settlement and revealing a worldwide sexual abuse scandal within the Church. He has handled a variety of complex claims involving whistleblowers including one against a drug company resulting in a $35 million settlement as well as cases involving the big dig and a military contractor. In addition, Jeff has tried a number of cases to jury verdict including negligent security cases for victims of rape and child sexual abuse, college rape, a bombing in a building and various complex commercial matters.
A former criminal prosecutor, Mr. Newman obtained his M.B.A degree from Suffolk University last May. Before becoming a trial lawyer, he was also a reporter. He was highlighted in Norman Mailer's novel Executioner's Song about his reporting on the execution of Gary Gilmore; he investigated the death of J.F.K. for over a year and also interviewed Charles Manson in Vacaville Prison.
Mr. Newman is presently authoring a second book on Whistleblowers which is expected to be released in 2011. He lives with his family in Massachusetts.
